Quicksilver Maui Dinner Cruise Review

"I wanted to share with you my experience with the Quicksilver Dinner Cruise on Wednesday 2/13/2008. I have experienced The Pride, Maui Princess, and the Spirit of Lahaina dinner cruises. What I experienced last week Wednesday night on the Quicksilver was amazing. With my extensive background in Food and Beverage and activity sales I am very particular and pay attention to details.

The boarding went as all others do but once we got on board right away we noticed the table cloths on the tables held in place with J clips. Very nice. Tables !!!!! Wow what a great concept. On the other Maui dinner cruises I held my plate in my lap. The quicksilver had lots of seating and a very clean floor. Noticeably clean.

spacer Upper deck had a nice clean cover on the rear seating. We sat there for the start of the trip. As we pulled out of the harbor the captain piloted the boat with extreme caution and attention to the waves so the ride was very smooth and enjoyable. He located whales very quickly. I noticed he maneuvered the Quicksilver around so all guests on the boat had a perfect angle of viewing. He never got to close to the whales and kept a respectful distance.

Within 3 minutes of boarding we were asked if we needed any assistance and had our drinks delivered quickly to our hands. The wrist bands were adjusted with every drink. All four deck hands were in constant contact with every single guest. Offering to take photos, taking away trash, or just available for questions. The service was very impressive. The crew was all over the boat and the captain was on top of all whale activity 360 degrees. It was very obvious that the service was way above all others Maui dinner cruises including the Maui Princess.

The Guitar player ( Tony) was excellent. He kept asking for requests and interacting with the guests. I asked for some C&K and he played two songs. He responded to the guests as they ooed and awed with the whales. He was very personnel and polite. I was impressed that he turned his Guitar over to a guest who asked if he could play some songs for his 6 friends who all gathered around to listen. The guest played three songs, one oldie from Simon and Garfunkel, as the all the guest and crew sang along.

Dinner was served. The table service was impressive once again. As we sat down a crew member was right there offering to get a drink or help with changing out our dirty plates with a clean one for seconds. I was very impressed when a couple wondered forward and sat outside and put their plates on their lap. We had a huge amount of extra room inside. As quick as possible Jerry grabbed a table covered with a clean cloth and carried it outside and set them up. On the Pride we were told to stay inside or topside while eating. Not to go forward. Jerry did not stop for a second but took care of the guest. Great service!!!

When we got mugged by a pod of whales all the guest ran from the tables to watch. The crew responded by clearing the trash and replacing the silverware with clean ones. Some guests stayed outside to watch. Justin and Chris brought them their plates and drinks from the tables. Great awareness. We were served Chocolate cake cut in clean portions and presented by hand to every guest. It was like a birthday party. Once again excellent service.

The Captain and the Guitar player worked together to inform and educate all guests about the green flash and the whales. The boat was turned so everyone could enjoy the awesome sunset. Before we knew it the Quicksilver was heading back to the harbor. The ride was smooth and quiet. I was very impressed on how quiet the ride was. There were no fumes, no roaring, very very quite. As we approached the harbor the crew worked quickly to prepare the boat for landing. When we were close to the slip the Captain swung the boat around very quickly and with precision skills backed it up to the dock as if he has been doing it for 20 years. Every member of the crew made it a point to shake everyones hand and thanked them for choosing the Quicksilver.

I would like to thank Eric, Justin, Chris, and Jerry, for a very impressive evening. If I could sum it all up in one statement “Impressive customer service and the Best Dinner Cruise on Maui!”

Thank you,
Christopher J Williams
