Today, the most successful organizations rely on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to accomplish a variety of strategic benefits. As a result, the strategic roles of ICT professionals have expanded and diversified. The change is most evident with CIOs. The European CIO of the Year is the first set of awards that recognizes different types of CIOs based on what kind of business value they bring most to their organizations.
There are two key objectives to the 2012 European CIO of the Year awards:
The European CIO of the Year 2012 awards will select 3 top CIOs in the following categories (*).
All 3 types have their merits, and one is not necessary better then the other. Everything depends on the context of the organisation and the vision general management has on IT.
The CIOs are judged by INSEAD on their specific qualities. Some of the selection criteria will include:
- How well does the CIO adjust his IT strategy to meet the needs of his business?
- How does the CIO deploy his team to meet the business requirements?
- How does the CIO determine his priorities and how effective does he manage them?
In the end there will be 3 winners, one in each category. They will be able to add this prestigious title to their award list.
The European CIO of the Year 2012 awards are an organisation of CIONET International in close cooperation with INSEAD elab. The awards will be presented during the CIO CITY conference in Brussels on 19 and 20/4/2012.
