What you should know about it
In government, the word is often used in the context of fiscal responsibility, or fiscal policy. When used in this way, it refers to the decisions made by government regarding spending, revenues (including taxes), and the resulting deficits and debt, and their broader impact on the overall economy. This differs from monetary policy, which focuses on money supply.
