  Chaplet of Divine Mercy

The Divine Mercy Chaplet is said each day at hour of Mercy (3:00 p.m.)

Start with the sign of the cross.
(The Devine Mercy Chaplet is prayed using a rosary)

  • Pray one Our Father...
  • Pray one Hail Mary...
  • Pray the Apostles creed
spacer I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. From thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

On the large (Our Father) bead of each decade, pray:
"Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world."

On the ten small (Hail Mary) beads of each decade, pray:
"For the sake of His sorrowful passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world."

After five decades to conclude, pray three times:
"Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world."

You may wish to add (three times):
    "Jesus, I trust in You."

  • Conclude with the sign of the cross.

spacer The Feast of the Divine Mercy Divine Mercy Sunday is the culmination of the novena to the Divine Mercy of Jesus, a devotion given to St. Faustina (Maria Faustina Kowalska) and is based upon an entry in her diary stating that anyone who participates in the Mass and receives the sacraments of Confession and the Eucharist on this day is assured by Jesus of full remission of their sins. The devotion was actively promoted by Pope John Paul II, who canonized St. Faustina and designated the Sunday after Easter as the Sunday of the Divine Mercy (Dominica II Paschae seu de divina misericordia) in the General Roman Calendar.

John Paul II, who died in April 2005 on the vigil of Divine Mercy Sunday, will himself be beatified on Divine Mercy Sunday, May 1, 2011, by his successor, Pope Benedict XVI.

"Our Lord's Mercy grants forgiveness of all sins and punishment on the Feast of Divine Mercy, Mercy Sunday, mercy for even the most hardened sinners!"
