There are 2 things that I have always wanted to be in life – a writer and an entrepreneur, and thanks to this blog, I get to be both.
I have always been very career oriented. I obtained my Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management and Marketing in 2001 and proceeded to take additional courses in computer related subjects to fulfill my need for learning. Since, I have worked in the industries of cable and telecommunications, purchasing and procurement and system and website development.
I learned a lot working outside the home, but when my daughter was born, I longed to be able to stay at home. I finally had the chance to transition into a work at home role doing freelance copywriting, social media and search engine optimization. One day, after writing 50+ articles for other websites, I wondered why in the world I hadn’t just thought of writing for my own website.
That evening, Midwestern Moms was born.
Luckily, I knew a little something about launching websites, so it didn’t take me long to have it up and running. With the support of my family and friends, I was able to start getting my blog seen by more people.
But, for me, blogging for my friends and family wasn’t enough.
I’m more of a “Go Big or Go Home” type of girl.
I opened up my mind to the possibility of working with others to be able to actually make a difference. As a new mom, I spent so much time on the Internet researching products for my daughter and found myself becoming an advocate for these products. If I love something enough for it to make a difference in my life, I want other people to know about it!
My closest friends will tell you that I am the most open and honest person that you will ever meet. As a blogger, I strongly believe in authenticity and I would never bore you with something that I didn’t like or find interesting. Us moms have to stick together… and loyalty is something that is important to me.
Blogging and social media has turned into my full-time career and I take it very seriously. Now, I am truly doing work that I love.
In my spare time, you will find me with my face in front of my Kindle Fire, because if I am not writing, I am reading. I feature a lot of books on this blog and show Indie authors a lot of support because I hope to be a published author someday soon. I also love to make things pretty! Some of my additional interests include: baking, exercise, golf, scrapbooking, crochet and I LOVE to embrace my inner nerd and geek out on all things techy!
Although a Missouri girl at heart, I currently reside in Nebraska with my husband and very active 2-year old daughter.
