The BBC Creative Archive pilot ended in 2006 after temporarily releasing more than 500 pieces of content under the draft scheme. The Creative Archive Licence Group (CALG) continues to explore how the scheme can be used.
The group) was set up in 2005 by the BBC, bfi (British Film Institute), Channel 4 and the Open University to make certain archive content available for the public to use under the terms of the Creative Archive Licence (CAL).
This is a single, shared user licence scheme for downloading moving images, audio and stills and it applies strict, non-commercial, rules for its use.
Currently the bfi and Open University are making archive film clips available for public use under this scheme.
