India was, for me, the end of a life and the start of a life. As I laid in the bronze hues of the Kerala beach I thought about the last months before the journey that I was now enjoying with my husband, and marvelled at how this golden paradise had really been a balm for our souls and our stressed minds. Basking in the warm touch of the steaming sun, the mere thought of the struggling and fighting of the previous months seemed to be just a quiet nightmare left far behind across the crystalline waters.
My husband and I had been dreaming about a change in scenery for ages, but it was last year that we finally made the commitment to pack our things and move to a different country. It had taken far too long for us to finally gather the courage necessary to do it,
but try to sell your home and leave your homeland behind and you tell me if it doesn't feel like a burden. After making the decision, however, we felt wonderful! We would often catch ourselves daydreaming about the exciting adventures that the future would hold and the delight of starting a life away from the dreadful urban wasteland we've been suffering for years.
The youthful joy, alas, would not last long. We had originally thought it wouldn't be much of a problem to sell our house, we imagined a comfortable and cheap house sale while we took care of our plans but soon realized that ours had been a fantasy. Mountains of paperwork, questionable agents and missed appointments were only some of our problems, not enough to make us quit but enough to make the process of starting our lives over an uphill battle. But we were committed and pushed forward. After some long and weary months we decided it was time to pamper ourselves for our efforts, so we decided to have our holidays early and made arrangements to spend a week on the exotic beaches in India.
Let me tell you, it was the perfect choice. Right after our arrival we were swarmed by the enticing aromas, the mysterious sounds and powerful vistas of this great country. But the beaches really took us to paradise and before we knew it we were back to our teenage years, full of energy, hope and excitement. Even with our troubles back home, our trip banished our stress and tended to our nerves. After a while, we even got lucky and found the perfect online estate agent for us. They were professional and very efficient, and after a few weeks we were well under way to a successful house sale and to the beginning of our new life.
