You Have the Power to Choose What You See And Experience

spacer Look closely at the picture above. Do you see the beauty in that scene? You have the power to choose to see the beauty in this picture or not.

Some people will see a barren desert, while others see a scene of beauty and life that can be found in a desolate region. This is a great example of life.

Where one man sees lack and failure another sees an opportunity to grow and succeed. It all comes down to how you choose to face the challenges that life throws your way. Just like the plants growing in the desert, you cannot always control the circumstances that you will face in your life.

Sometimes, life leaves you with nothing but barren dry soil with which to build your dreams. However, if you choose to find a way to thrive, no matter what, you can. The power to choose your destiny is in your hands.

So, Why Do People Fail?

This is a question that I had to face several years ago, as I was trying to build my business. At the time, I was on the brink of giving up, and going out to find a job. Then, I began to realize that it was my perspective on the whole situation that was causing all of my struggles. By simply choosing to change how I viewed my situation, I was able to turn my business around, almost over night, and make it into a thriving business.

The fact is that people fail because they choose to see lack instead of opportunity!

Your perspective on everything that you face will determine what you see in your life. The illusion of your perspective will create the reality that you find.

Everything that you believe and see in your life is an illusion that is created by your perspective. Once you realize that you have the power to change your perspective, and thus change the illusion, you are empowered to create the life that you want.

You can see the beauty in every situation and every event, as well as the opportunity for growth, or you can choose to see the barren landscape in front of you. It is what you choose and how you decide to view it that will determine the outcome.

You have the power to choose failure or success, but you have to make the mental shift in what you are focusing on. Rather than focussing on the barren dirt in your life, find the thriving beauty of the growing life that is in front of you. Shift your focus from what is missing to what you have.

The next shift is to shift your focus from things that concern you to things you can control. For example, you can’t change how your wife acts, or how others view your business, or how other people see you. However, you can change how you act towards your wife, how you treat potential customers and other business owners, or how much and what types of food you put into your body.

By focusing on the things that you can control rather than the things that concern you, but are outside of your ability to control, you can make a shift in your perspective. Where before you only saw what you didn’t have, now you can see the more opportunities.

Let Go of The Excuses That Limit Your Potential

In his book, Excuses Begone!, Dr Wayne Dyer defines an excuse as “any belief which may or may not be true that limits you from achieving your full potential”. He goes on to equate excuses with viruses that infect your mind and seek to corrupt your view of life in a way that is harmful and self destructive.

The fact is that most of what we believe is not absolutely true, no matter how hard we strive to convince ourselves that it is. Instead, you have to choose new beliefs, which, although may or may not be true, at least take you in the direction that you really want your life to go.

This may seem difficult (which is actually another mind virus that people use to limit themselves), but the reality is that once you understand that the cause of your lack and failure is in your mind, and that you have the power to choose different beliefs, you have the power to change those beliefs and the limiting habits that go with them very quickly.

Only You Have the Power to Change What You See

Although you can read hundreds of blogs like mine, and find loads of people like me here to help you along your journey, utlimately, what you choose to see in your life and how you choose to live it is really up to you. You have the power to choose your life, and only you have the power to change it.

Stop looking outside of yourself for change, and start looking inside to create the life that you really want. Once you do that, you will have the power to choose life on your own terms, instead of having others dictate your life to you.

Everything is a matter of perception and how you can see a blessing in any kind of adversity. I have had terrible things happen to me but these “terrible things” ushered in something wonderful as well. People tend to highlight what is missing and this causes them to be miserable. Be grateful of and appreciate what you have and use them to your advantage. Be resourceful.

Thanks for the excellent post. I am glad that you mentioned the importance of NOT putting limitations on yourself. I am an old fan of Wayne Dryer. I read his first book years ago and this motivates me to read Excuses Begins!

You need to make a decision about that which you want, and determine when you want to have achieved that thing. In other words you must put a deadline to what you currently want. Get clear about what you want. Have a good plan of attack. Thanks for this wonderful post!
