Jay & Jamie Watson

Jay’s personal work and approach to his commercial assignments are inspired by California’s rich culture both past and present. His influences are drawn from surfing, skateboarding, film noir movies, bicycling and post modern art. The International Photography Awards has recognized his work in over six different categories including fine-art, lifestyle and editorial portraiture. Some of Jay’s commercial clients include: Fidelity, Financial Week, Magellan GPS, Seagate Technologies, Siemens Medical Solutions and UCSF.

Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, he has been based out of San Francisco since 1999. For more information on Jay’s work:  www.jaywatson.com

Jamie Watson has been passionate about printmaking for 18 years. Doing a series about California for this show at Little House was an exciting endeavor just one year after her son Duke was born. Constant inspiration came not only from her travels throughout this enchanting state but also from her husband Jay Watson’s beautiful photographs of various California scenes.

Jamie’s monotypes are inspired by color, intuition, emotion, environment and her love of surfing. Through her process vibrant color, abstract form and found images emerge on the paper.

Born in San Jose, California, Jamie spent her youth living in many different states before settling in her chosen favorite. Jamie studied printmaking with Erin Goodwin-Guerrero and Patrick Surgalski at San Jose State University. She is fortunate to have also studied under Tracey Adams and Kalani Engles.
