Haunted by an animal attack, seventeen year old CHARLOTTE feels she is being followed. When she runs into a mysterious boy while camping, she’s afraid. Nothing seems right about him. Despite trying to stay away, there is an unmistakable draw to be near him. Even his scent smells familiar. But the closer she gets, the faster the secrets begin to unravel. Not only may he be a killer, he’s a werewolf. Evidence shows she should be one too, be never turned into a wolf.

When someone destroys her bedroom, leaving claw marks across her furniture, LIAM claims she can control the shifts of other wolves, and that someone wants her dead because of that power. Torn between love and fear, Charlotte must decide if she can trust him to keep her safe.

My Review:

This book was not my absolute favorite werewolf novel, but it’s definitely a great start to a new series from a talented author. The start of the book really was really slow for me and I had trouble focusing on the plot of the story. But, I held on and after the first several chapters, it progressed nicely and the story started to fall in to place.

Charlotte’s character is a strong addition to the story. She was attacked when she was younger, and fears the wolves that she knows are out there. When her family moves, she can feel the eyes of the wolves watching her as they travel. Then her dad suggests a camp out overnight before reaching the next town and she becomes very nervous. There at the campsite she meets a boy. One who she feels unexpectedly drawn two. Something about him is very familiar but she’s not sure what. There’s attraction sure, but there’s more.

Liam is a quiet sort of character who helps Charlotte come to know things about herself that even she didn’t know. He feels the attraction too and together they form a bond of love and friendship. The trouble is, Charlotte fears him. He’s a wolf and she knows that he’s dangerous. But, can the love that Liam has for her be enough to overpower that fear?

With a bit of suspense thrown in to this new paranormal series, Ms. Deagan has created a new young adult series that is sure to capture the eyes and hearts of all paranormal lovers. From unexplained happenings to sweet romantic love to rivalry and secrets about oneself to best friends, this book is filled with more than just great characters. Despite the slow beginning, this book quickly became a 4 Book worthy novel, and I am highly anxious to see the next addition to the story!

This sounds like a great book. I love that the author has a rat. I had one growing up. Named him ratikin.
