Concertinas in Stock

We have a large selection of concertinas in stock, certainly the largest selection in the world.

Please note that the examples shown in illustrations are not examples from present stock although we may have similar ones available.

All the concertinas are fully restored and in concert pitch (unless otherwise requested). All the instruments (of whatever quality) are decent examples of their type - we never waste time repairing concertinas that are not worth the effort and we turn down as many instruments as we buy to keep our standards high. We take great pride in the condition of our instruments. As well as in-house repairs we have instruments made and repaired by the best repairers and manufacturers of concertinas - Wheatstone, Connor, Dipper, the Concertina Connection, Suttner, Mike Acott, Nigel Sture, David Robertson and David Leese, a local concertina expert and restorer who works closely with Barleycorn.

What Concertina models do we have?

Barleycorn Concertinas has, over the course of the year, virtually any type of instrument you could require:

  • English concertinas - miniature, trebles, tenor-trebles, tenors, baritone-trebles and bass. We have a great range of English concertinas including many rarities.
  • Anglo concertinas including Jeffries, Wheatstone, Lachenal, Jones and Crabb

  • New anglo concertinas made by the Concertina Connection, Suttner and Connor whose reputations are already widely known.
  • A good stock of Duet Concertinas - usually Crane or Maccann ranging from 39 keys to 81 keys.

Why don't we list our instruments?

  • Stock changes so quickly that lists are always out of date.
  • Lists do not adequately describe instruments.
  • We prefer to talk to the customer and try to match instruments to customers expectations and finances.
  • We always have concertinas being restored or in transit which would be available in a short period but not feature on a list.

What Next?

Send us an e-mail ring us or drop us a line giving:

  • Kind of concertina you are interested in
  • Approximate price range and what requirements you have for it
  • Where you live (as there are obviously different expenses and trading rules that affect what we say)

We will send a personal list of suitable instruments to let you know what is available.

Prices

There are no strict rules as to the cost of a concertina. Factors such as condition, rarity and finish all come into the equation when it comes to concertina prices.

There are endless varieties of concertinas and any prices on these pages are only guidelines as of July 2009. So don't be disappointed to find that you won't be able to acquire a Hayden duet, or buy a Jeffries for £200!
