Welcome to Ebbw Vale Institute (EVI).

Ebbw Vale Institute is a regenerated building full of story and culture. For a long time it existed to promote cultural exchange in the neighbourhood. After being vacant for two years, it is now ready to open its doors again.

The regeneration of Ebbw Vale Institute was born out of a need to set up a new space for cultural and creativity development. This building will serve as a renewed focus for the area, providing a programme of creative activities, learning and social enterprise development to help revitalise the economy of Blaenau Gwent.

Media-audio suite and rehearsal spaces are available within this Institute and there would soon be dance, drama, music and crafts activities as well as other workshops. In addition, the existence of a Youth ‘Club’ will provide business support to young entrepreneurs.

The regeneration of the building has been developed by ProMo-Cymru, a creative industries and social enterprise organisation. ProMo has worked extensively in the Blaenau Gwent area during the past seven years and has received support from the Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council and the Heads of the Valleys Project to develop a programme of activities for young people and to start running these as soon as possible.

It is Ebbw Vale Institute’s goal to inject variety into the everyday life of the Ebbw Vale community and help to activate the business realm of Blaenau Gwent.

Ebbw Vale Institute is open to everyone in the community.
