Raceday Dress Code

Many people like to dress up for a day at the races, especially if it is a special occasion. The atmosphere at Royal Windsor Racecourse is summer garden party, fun, vibrant and relaxed, which is reflected in our dress code, detailed below.


Club Enclosure & Restaurants spacer

Racegoers are encouraged to wear smart attire, a jacket or tie is not essential for gentlemen, although we do ask that you wear a collared shirt. Ladies are asked to dress smartly although a hat is not essential. Smart jeans are permitted but should not be ripped or torn, as are tailored shorts.

Racegoers under the age of 18 are encouraged to dress smartly.

Fancy dress, t-shirts, sports attire and trainers are not permitted in the Club Enclosure.

There is no dress code for children under 12 however we do ask parents to ensure their children are dressed smartly.

Hospitality Guests

As part of their package, hospitality guests receive a Club Enlcosure ticket and therefore should dress to reflect our Club Enclosure dress code.


Grandstand Enclosure spacer

Dress up or down to suit your occasion, there is no formal dress code for the Grandstand Enclosure and fancy dress is permitted, providing it would not cause offence to other racegoers.


Silver Ring Enclosure spacer

Dress up or down to suit your occasion, there is no formal dress code for the Silver Ring Enclosure and fancy dress is permitted, providing it would not cause offence to other racegoers.



Royal Windsor Racecourse reserve the right to refuse admission to anyone who is considered inappropriately dressed.
