Residencies
Artist Residencies
Artist residencies balance group activity, personal work time, facilitated conversation, the exchange of work and performance. Creators working in any area, arts, humanities, sciences, etc. are welcome. Residencies are structured around a project’s specific needs. A typical day might begin with several hours of individual/team work, lunch, an optional afternoon excursion or on-site activity, dinner, and an evening gathering of resident artists.
Group/Organizational Residencies
TLC offers residency and retreat opportunitites for artistic groups or organizations looking for space and time to connect, create, and reflect together in community.
2011 featured residencies for playwright fellows from the Playwrights' Center, the Sandbox Theatre's company retreat, and The Stuart Pimsler Dance & Theater Company, who returned to create and perform a community-developed piece called CAST FROM THE WATER'S EDGE: THE BOUNDARY WATERS PROJECT, which was performed by a combination of Ely locals and the SPDT company at Vermilion Community College
