Architectural expert and first cousin to the Queen, HRH The Duke of Gloucester is to visit Wigan Borough this week. Architects will take His Royal Highness on a tour of the public service developments in the town centre and then he will have a guided tour of the brand new Wigan Life Centre.
Team Oldham triumphed overall at the fourth Greater Manchester Disability Games on Friday (29 June). More than 200 disabled athletes from Bolton, Oldham, Rochdale, Wigan, Tameside and Stockport took part in the event held at Leigh Sports Village.

Youngsters from across the region will enjoy their own mini-Paralympics this Friday at the Greater Manchester Disability Games. Organised by Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust’s Sports Development Unit, and held at Leigh Sports Village, more than 200 disabled athletes from Bolton, Oldham, Rochdale, Wigan, Tameside and Stockport will compete for a chance to be named the best borough in the region.
Local musicians will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take part in the largest closing cultural event of London 2012 on 9th September thanks to Wigan Leisure Culture Trust. Musical performances held in Mesnes Park, Wigan will be one of hundreds of outdoor, community concerts taking place simultaneously across the country, making up the Bandstand Marathon.
