Abbey Leisure Centre has closed following a severe fire on Tuesday 28 February 2012.

The fire has caused significant damage to the building and it will be closed for the foreseeable future.

We are currently writing to all members and customers but in the meantime we hope the list of Questions and Answers contains all the information you require.

What happens to my gym membership?

All Profiles memberships have been frozen, which means that no money will be taken out of your account until the centre re-opens or a suitable alternative venue is located and operational.

What about events, swimming lessons and fitness classes planned over the next few months at the Leisure Centre?

For those users who have already pre-booked swimming lessons, classes or to use Abbey Leisure as a venue for a function we will look to help you find alternative locations to use or reimburse you. Please contact Tadcaster Leisure Centre to find out more.

 

How will my refund be processed?

Customers will receive their refund by bank transfer – yet this may take up to 28 days - we are dealing with a large volume of refunds, but we'll do our best to process them all as quickly as possible

What are the opening times for Selby Park?

The current opening hours at the pavilion within the park are 9am-5pm; however the park grounds will remain open until 9pm on certain days of the week. A member of staff will be available to answer queries between the hours of 9-5pm on weekdays.

If an Abbey direct debit customer who has had their account frozen wants to attend Tadcaster, are the direct debits then reinstated?

Yes, if a member decides to use Tadcaster Leisure Centre their Direct Debit payments will be reinstated – Just pop into the centre and a member of staff will set this up for you.

What are the future plans for leisure in Selby?

Both Selby District Council and Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust, the organisation that runs leisure services in your area, are committed to providing you with leisure services across the district of Selby and together we are exploring other venues that could potentially be used to accommodate activities.
