I had the pleasure of interviewing Diane Latiker, the Executive Director of Kids Off the Block youth program located in the Roseland community on Chicago’s South Side. Diane is the perfect example of a community leader. She opened her heart and home to ALL the kids in her community to keep them safe. They didn’t know her and she didn’t know them, but she made them feel at home and they kept returning. Her genuine concern for the young people probably saved numerous lives from untimely deaths. Listen to her story of how she got started, what keeps her going and how the community can help her continue to keep young people off the street, which helps save their lives.
