The New York Times Company Foundation administers certain philanthropic activities that include:

The New York Times Neediest Cases Fund. Each year, the Foundation administers a fund-raising campaign during the holiday season, with daily stories in The Times describing the travail of many of the city's neediest children, disabled and elderly. The campaign each year draws contributions from thousands of readers, totaling about $6 million. Using funds from its endowment, the Neediest Cases Fund has funded a summer jobs program for disadvantaged teenagers. The New York Times College Scholarship Program. Working with Times writers and editors as judges, the Foundation each year selects Times Scholars, students who have overcome exceptional hardship to achieve excellence in New York City high schools. Each student receives a four-year college scholarship, mentoring and summer employment. To make a donation, click on: www.nycharities.org/donate/c_donate.asp?CharityCode=1004.

Prior Activities. In 2009, the Foundation suspended two activities. One was a program in which The Times Company matched gifts by employees and retirees to qualifying nonprofit institutions. The other was a program of grants to domestic organizations in journalism, education, culture, environment and service.
