UPDATE 7/17/2012 - Apparently EA has pulled back the shroud on Battlefield 4, as shown by
this Joystiq article.
ORIGINAL STORY: An apparent early leak on EA's PC Origin client has seemingly confirmed development of
Battlefield 4. The ad promises BF4 beta access to anyone who preorders the deluxe edition of
Medal of Honor: Warfighter, due out later this year. No date for the beta was given in the ad, which could suggest we won't see BF4 released until next year or even later.
EA has not confirmed the existence of Battlefield 4, but this would not be the first time a product announcement has leaked via Origin.
Mass Effect 3, Crysis 3, Medal of Honor: Warfighter, and Battlefield Premium all leaked on the client's store page before being officially announced.
There were numerous hints in BF3 that suggested the next title in the franchise would be a new take on 2006's sci-fi themed
Battlefield 2142. Since no details are known about BF4, we can't say for sure what the setting and time period will be -- but here's hoping the franchise develops beyond modern day desert warfare. Another big question is if we'll even see BF4 on this generation of consoles, due to the arrival of the next generation of comments coming within the next few years.
The ad has been removed from Origin, but a screencap can be seen below. What would you like to see in Battlefield 4? Let us know in the comments!
