Drew Barrymore’s Wedding with Will Koppelman

June 6th, 2012

Drew Barrymore married Will Koppelman last Saturday, June 2nd at her Montecito estate.  Guests enjoyed a pre-ceremony cocktail party on the lawn before being ushered into the marquee tent in her garden for an emotional wedding service, which lasted 45 minutes. The Jewish ceremony was officiated by Koppelman’s rabbi.  Children of the couple’s friends served as flower girls and ring bearers. There were 200 guests, which included Reese Witherspoon and Cameron Diaz.

After the ceremony, the couple took wedding pictures in the garden.  Drew chose a ’80s tribute band for the reception because she loves the era and thinks it’s the most fun.  Both bride and groom wore Chanel.  Barrymore’s dress was designed by Karl Lagerfeld, which was a custom long, white Chanel dress pleated in muslin and organza.  The dress was accentuated at the waist by a black satin belt and had flowers embroidered in organza, muslin, tulle and feathers along the skirt of the dress.  The pregnant and lovely bride was also wearing Chanel fine jewelry and had gardenias in her hair.

The bride and groom left the house at 2 am and spent their wedding night at the nearby San Ysidro Ranch.  As the newlyweds departed at the end of the evening, they shared a kiss in the back seat of a classic Mercedes that was decorated with streamers and roses tied to the back.

Memorial Day Weekend Wedding Ideas

May 25th, 2012

This weekend is the big Memorial Day holiday weekend and that is the official sign of summer time!  When I think about Memorial Day weekend and that first sign of summer, the first thing that comes to mind is crisp white and isn’t that the perfect color for weddings!  It’s also a time to honor our military and weddings that fall on this long weekend may pay homage to the military or a member of their family who either is or has been in the military.  We have some inspirational wedding ideas that not only pay tribute to our armed forces, but also hones in on crisp white and the breezy summer.

We were thrilled to receive these photos by Elle-Rose Williams of Electric Dialogue.  From the very first image, you can tell that they are a young and fun couple.  They are glowing with love and excitement.  I love these casual yet gorgeous images that gleam with exuberance, which truly reflects this couple’s personality.

From Elle-Rose Williams of Electric Dialogue…The couple are Sam and Sarah from Birmingham UK - who met whilst they were at university there. Because that is where they met, that’s where we decided to do the photo shoot. I’m a lifelong friend and doing their wedding too - they wanted someone close to them to take the photos so they were as natural and lovely as they could be.

I’m the photographer who took the photos - I’m also one of Sam’s best friends so it is lovely to be able to photograph their big day especially after seeing their relationship grow over the years. They met because they both studying History - and they really are just a great match for each other!

They’re planning a really boho, quirky wedding for the summertime (of which I’ll also be photographing).

Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan’s Surprise Wedding

May 20th, 2012

Facebook founder and billionaire, Mark Zuckerberg, married his long time girlfriend Priscilla Chan on Saturday, May 19th.  It was a secret wedding where guests were invited to celebrate Priscilla’s graduation.  Instead, they ended up attending a wedding.  The wedding was held at their Palo Alto, California home.  A very low key ceremony was held in the backyard with Zuckerberg wearing a suit and tie and Chan wore a $4,700 Claire Pettibone dress.  Zuckerberg designed a ruby wedding ring for Chan, which she did not see until the ceremony.  After the ceremony, there was a family style meal catered from the couple’s favorite local restaurants, Palo Alto Sol and Fuki Sushi.  For desert the couple served Burdick chocolate mice, which they had on their first date.

All in all it was a simple and elegant wedding that was perfected in secrecy.  Idyllic after an exhilarating week in the public eye with Facebook going public and Chan’s graduation from medical school at the University of California, San Francisco.

Add Spice To Your Wedding Day

May 15th, 2012

The heat is rising with summer approaching.  Some of the hottest colors right now are tones of orange and yellow like Pantone’s Tangerine Tango.  We found a spicy wedding favor that fits the colors – Small Chili Pepper Plants.  Imagine coordinating yellow and orange chili pepper plants with your wedding and making the wedding favors the center of all the wedding décor.  Add thank you favor tags to the plant wedding favors that say “Thank you for spicing up our wedding”or “Thank you for adding SPICE to our wedding day”.   Miniature Chili Pepper Plants is the spiciest wedding favor idea for this summer.  It’s thinking out of the box with wedding favors like this that will coordinate with the hot summer theme.

Inspirations for Mother of the Bride and Groom

May 13th, 2012

It’s Mother’s Day and we have come up with some wedding day inspirations for the mother of the bride and groom.

How a bout this great hat.  The color is in trend now as well.  Last year’s Royal Wedding made quite a statement about hats that still continue.

Ways to Honor Mom at the Wedding

May 11th, 2012

With Mother’s Day being this Sunday, we are putting an emphasis on moms for weddings.  Some sweet ways to honor mothers at the wedding, especially if the wedding falls on the Sunday that is Mother’s Day, are listed here:

1.        Include a poem about mothers in the program or have someone read at the wedding reception during toasts.

2.       Do a rose exchange duting the ceremony and after the ceremony on the way out give each of your roses to your mothers.

3.       Surprise mom with a makeover on the morning of the wedding and let her be stress free for the rest of the day.

4.       Have a classic handkerchief and a rose on each of the mother’s seats before the ceremony starts.

5.       At the reception, instead of doing a bouquet toss, dedicate your bouquet to your mother with a nice speech or give a flower from your bouquet to his mom and your mom prior to the bouquet toss.

Country Singer, Jake Owen and Lacey Buchanan’s Wedding

May 9th, 2012

spacer

Monday, May 7th 2012, Country Singer, Jake Owen married model, Lacey Buchanan.  The two had met while Buchanan appeared in Owen’s music video for “Barefoot Blue Jean Night”.  It was a sunrise ceremony on the beach in Owen’s hometown of Vero Beach, Florida.  They chose a sunrise ceremony because the dawn of a new day is symbolic of starting their new life together.  The bride wore an Amsale wedding dress with a simple bouquet in hand and the groom was simply elegant in a white linen Armani shirt and Tommy Bahama drawstring pants.  After the barefoot ceremony the couple walked to the patio of the Vero Beach Hotel and Spa for champagne, cake cutting and a sit-down brunch.
