Science Highlights
Advances in the Field from around the World
The formation of minerals containing mercury through Earth history is episodic, reflecting intervals of supercontinent assembly, organic carbon burial, and biological changes to ocean chemistry.
Although microbe communities can subsist in ancienct seafloor clays for millions of years without fresh supplies of organic matter, low available energy may ultimately control community size.
A review article on the deep, dark energy biosphere highlights the recent history as well as the exciting future of research exploring Earth's intraterrestrial life.
Please send references for research relevant to deep carbon science to the DCO. They will be added to the DCO's deep carbon bibliography which is intended to be a community resource. Science highlights will be chosen from among the recent publications.
