WhitePages is a privately-held company located in Seattle, WA. Our goal is to make it fantastically simple for everyone to connect with confidence.
Is WhitePages the phone company?
No. WhitePages is not owned by or affiliated with any phone company.
Do you offer phone books?
WhitePages does not print or distribute phone books. To obtain a copy or make changes to your local phone book, you must contact the publisher of the phone book. Phone books are specific to each region. To find out who publishes your local directories, either look on the cover for the name of the publisher (e.g. Verizon, AT&T) or contact your phone company for more information.
What's the difference between 411.com and calling 411?
411.com is one of our websites. It's your source for free, online contact information on people and businesses. That's different from calling 411, which connects you to a directory assistance operator and generally results in a service fee.
411.com is not affiliated or associated with "411" dial-up services or your local phone company in any way.
Where do you get the information for your people search results?
We get our information for people search results in these three ways:
1. Publicly Available Information Sources
This is what it sounds like: information that's available to the public. It includes addresses, street names, cities, states and ZIP codes. Other examples of publicly available information include published phone directories and information published on the Internet, such as publicly available social network profiles.
2. Third-Party Data Suppliers
Information from third-party data suppliers originates from a variety of sources. It may include publicly available information, such as phone directories, as well as information from other sources. For example, people often provide name, address, phone number, email address and other personal information when filling out forms for contests, sweepstakes, subscriptions or other similar offers. Often, this information can be shared with third parties. Whenever you provide personal information — either online or offline — you should understand how the information will be used and whether it can be shared with third parties.
3. WhitePages Public Profiles
WhitePages members can control and publish exactly what information they want to display on our website through their WhitePages public profile. WhitePages public profiles have this logo next to their name:
If listing information is not on WhitePages, it is either unavailable or has been removed from our websites. Click here to learn how to remove your information from WhitePages.
Where do you get the information for your business search results?
Our business search results come from a broad variety of sources including yellow pages directories and third-party data providers. We partner with ExpressUpdate and other data providers to deliver the most comprehensive business search results possible. You can often identify the source of business search results by going to the "Detail View" page. You may see "Provided by..." at the top of the page, which tells you the name of the company providing that information. If you do not see "Provided by", then the information is provided by other third-party data providers.
How do I add a WhitePages public profile to people search results?
It's easy. To create a WhitePages public profile click "Sign In" and follow the steps online.
An email address is required to create a public profile. Your email address is never displayed on our website; people can connect with you via email through our privacy-protected email service. You can also add your cell phone number so people can contact you directly or through private text message.
Is it free to add a WhitePages public profile?
Yes. It's free to join WhitePages and add your public profile. It's also free to include your cell phone number in your public profile (we send a text message to verify your number; standard message fees through your carrier may apply.)

We partner with ExpressUpdate and other data providers to deliver business search results. To remove business search results from WhitePages, you will need to contact the provider of the information. You can often identify the provider of business information by going to the "Detail View" page.
You may see "Provided by..." above the business name, which tells you the name of the company providing that information. How do I search for people?
Enter the name of a person you are searching for and their location, if you know it. We return the address, phone number and other identifying information for that person, if available.
Be aware that there is a limit to the number of results for any given search. If too many people are found, refine your search by providing a full first name, ZIP code or city name.
If no results are found, try entering just a first initial or expanding your search by removing the ZIP code or city name. We also offer search suggestions to help get results.
If no results are found, the information simply may be unavailable or has been removed from WhitePages.
How do I search for businesses?
Enter the name of the business you are searching for (e.g. "Starbucks" or "Holiday Inn") or a business category (e.g. "plumbers") to find all businesses within a certain category.
When searching, start by using as few search terms as possible. For example, instead of "Starbucks Coffee Co.", just enter "Starbucks". If your search returns too many results, narrow down your search by providing a ZIP code, city name or more specific business name or category. You can also sort results by distance or name.
If no results are found, the information simply may be unavailable or has been removed from WhitePages.
What's a reverse phone search? And how does it work?
This is a WhitePages feature that helps you find a person or business listing by the phone number. Say you get a call on your mobile from an unknown number. Enter that 10-digit phone number into reverse phone search. If available, we return the name, address and other identifying information for that phone number. Results will include home, work, and business search results.
If no results are found, we return the "type", "carrier" and "location" of the phone number. But sometimes information simply may be unavailable or has been removed from WhitePages.
What's a reverse address search? And how does it work?
This is just like reverse phone search but for addresses. Enter an address. If available, we return the name, phone number and other identifying information for that address. Results will include home, work, and business search results.
It's best to start your search using as few search terms as possible. Enter the address without the street type (e.g. Street, Road, Rd, Ave, etc) or directional indicators (e.g. NE, SE, W, etc).
There is a limit to the number of results for any given search. If too many results are found, refine your search by providing an apartment number or adding in the street type and directional indicators. If the search is for a large, multi-unit building, you may need to do a "People Search" to get results.
If no results are found, the information simply may be unavailable or has been removed from WhitePages.
Why can't I see all of the info for some people search results?
People who join WhitePages are members, who have added their public profiles to WhitePages. In return, they get member benefits, including full access to all public profiles and WhitePages exclusive information. Exclusive information can be new addresses for people who have recently moved or “@ work” addresses that don't typically appear in a directory.
