12:00--12:50 Hacking the Gender Gap: : A Hands-On Workshop for Boosting Gender Diversity in Tech Hacking is the art of pulling things apart to see what they’re made of, then putting them together in a new way. In this participatory workshop, Philadelphia's first hackerspace, The Hacktory, will draw from published research, social justice victories, and attendees’ personal experiences to figure out how and why the gender gap in tech emerges. Participants will leave with greater clarity about their own narratives, a deeper understanding of the anatomy of the problem, and tools for engaging potential supporters and being an effective ally. We hope to give participants techniques they can use to create meaningful, positive change in their organizations. Steph Alarcon Hacking the Gender Gap
