A New Look for Our People Pages

Happy Wednesday everybody!

Today we’s pulling off the silk cloth to unveil our redesigned People pages, which we think you’ll really enjoy.

spacer

As you can see, this completely new design repositions the Credits tab from the navigation bar to its rightful place, front-stage and center. We’ve also added much more detail to the Credits on the episode level: Credits are now broken down by show, episode, and character. So if you’re looking for an episode where Tina Fey plays Sarah Palin on SNL, for example, now you can. Additionally, we’ve added a new Photo Slider at the very top of the page to make it easier to find the latest photos of your favorite stars.

spacer

Our Cast and Crew Tool has undergone updates, too. It allows users to Add, Edit, or Delete any people who are associated to a Show or Episode. You’ll be able to do this for Cast and for Crew. The new tool also allows you to bulk-import both People and Roles from past episodes into succeeding episodes. Editors will now be able to re-order lists by Role group in the same screen as all other Cast and Crew edits.

We’ve also updated our Cast and Crew Tool, which allows users to Add, Edit, or Delete People associated to any Show or Episode from one screen for Cast and one screen for Crew. The new tool also allows for bulk importing of People and Roles from the previous episode. Editors will now be able to re-order lists by Role group in the same screen as all other Cast and Crew Edits.

We’re excited about these changes, ourselves, and hope you like them as much as we do!

An Update to Our Episode Guides

We’re excited to make a quick announcement about two new features we’re introducing to our episode guides this week. At the top of each guide, you’ll now see the previously aired episode and the next episode. This way, you can find this information right off the bat.

spacer

Also, within the episode guide, we will highlight any episodes that are scheduled to air that day.

We want to make it easy to find out if there’s a new episode of your favorite show airing tonight, and point you in the right direction if you’re looking for what just aired, or what is coming up. We’re excited about these changes, ourselves, and hope you like them as much as we do!

The TV.com team has been working around the clock on some exciting projects that we’re finally ready to share with you. We’ve freshened things up for you with the goal of making the site faster and easier to get the TV news, info and discussions you’re craving, so today we are taking the wraps off our new homepage and show pages.

A Simpler, Cleaner Homepage

Here’s what’s new:

spacer

  • Recommendations: Need a recommendation on what to watch tonight? Come back each and every day for our Editor’s Picks and chime in with your own.

spacer

  • Full Episodes: Want to watch full episodes of your favorite shows online? We’ll now point you to all of your streaming options, from free to subscription to paid sources you might not have known about.

spacer

  • Favorites List: Add any show to your favorites using our new right hand column module. We’ll display your first five favorites alphabetically with the full list always available for easy access in the black bar at the very top of the site.

spacer

  • Popular and Trending Lists: As always you can check out our Popular and Trending lists to find the most active pages on TV.com for any given moment.

spacer

So much to do! But where do you start? How about commenting on a news story. Then jump headfirst into contributing to one of your favorite shows - even a small addition, like a favorite quote from Community or a piece of trivia from The Wire.

What else is new?

The New Show Pages Are Live!

We are incredibly grateful to all of our fans who posted, emailed and called us with your thoughts over the past few weeks on the beta show pages. With the information we collected, we did some nips and tucks and now have officially launched the new show pages.

We’ve taken all the bits from the old TV.com that you loved, given them a polishing, and added a bunch of great new features. Here’s what’s new:

New Look:

We’ve switched over to a cleaner and lighter look that makes show pages more accessible and easier to use. The new layout is intended to get you to the things you care most about faster and more efficiently, while at the same time making everything easier on the eyes. It also allows us add more information to each page without overwhelming you guys. As you can see, it makes exploration far more effortless.

Easier Navigation:

We’ve moved the navigation tabs to the top of the page so you can get where you’re going faster than ever before. We’ve also made it easier to quickly favorite and rate shows, as well as write a review and watch all the available online episodes.

The Overview page also includes a brief Episode Guide, Show News, Full Episode links, Cast and Crew details, and Fan Reviews.

Watch Online:

This is a brand new section! Here you will find full episodes and clips of any show. You can filter by free vs. paid sources and by what will play on your favorite mobile devices.

spacer

We’ve even added a nifty little pop-up to each episode image that links directly to the available streaming sources.

spacer

Related Shows:

At the very bottom of each show page, you’ll find a list of TV Series similar to the one you’re looking at. These are our recommendations for other shows you might like, too. Take the time to browse through the list and let us know if you discover something new!

Our new show pages are just the first of many awesome updates that we have in store for you at TV.com. We’re launching them today in beta to get feedback from our users, so please explore them and tell us what you think!
