The School of Philosophy, Theology and Religion offers a variety of forward-thinking undergraduate and postgraduate study and research opportunities.
The School is home to a dynamic and friendly community of staff and students, pursuing original research on a wide range of topics.
The School consists of the department of Philosophy, which has a growing international reputation as a centre of excellence for research in analytic philosophy, especially in metaphysics and epistemology, philosophy of language and mind, and ethics and ethical theory. The Centre for the Study of Global Ethics is part of the Philosophy department and was founded in 2001. It was set up to address the practical and theoretical issues raised by globalisation and was the first of its kind in the UK.
The department of Theology and Religion is also housed in the School, it plays a world-leading role in areas of research such as: textual scholarship; postcolonial theory; Christian-Muslim relations; and World Christianity. The Department has extensive formal and informal links with academic institutions in five continents.

The Masters in Philosophy of Religion and Ethics is the flagship programme of the school of Philosophy, Theology and Religion. Students who take this programme will explore the key issues in the fields of Philosophy of Religion and ethics
