Well that was all rather aggressive. Im going to talk about Amazons pricing strategy on the new Kindle tablets over the weekend (hit the follow button at the top of this post to make sure you dont miss that one), but I wanted to point out one thing tonight. Amazon has the Kindle Fire HD 7 inch tablet at $199, and a 8.9 inch variant at $299. Google have the Nexus 7 tablet at $199. Were waiting to see what Apple will do with the mythical iPad Mini at 7 inches, but a starting price for a 16GB model at $299 would not be out of place.

Windows Phone made its India debut in October 2011, several months after its global launch, and faced challenges here where Google Android smartphones were capturing both market share as well as mindshare at a brisk rate. However, Microsoft is banking on the developer ecosystem to help drive adoption. According to some analysts, consumers just aren't buying into the Windows Phone platform, which eschews the standard, icon-based GUI in favor of a screen that's subdivided into squares that Microsoft calls Live Tiles. The tiles display photos and real-time updates from social networks, email, IM, and other services. In Windows Phone 8, Microsoft shrunk the tiles so users can see more of them on the screen at a given time. "The specs are competitive, with Nokia's focus on the camera/imaging technology a highlight. However, hardware hasn't been Nokia's issue; generating interest in Windows has," wrote Oppenheimer & Co's Ittai Kidron.

Windows Server is a core product of Microsoft's Server and Tools business, which has logged nine consecutive quarters of double-digit revenue growth. Last fiscal year, the division reached $18.7 billion in sales, ranking second in revenue behind the Business division and ahead of Windows.
