While visting New York City last week, I happened to stroll by a video gaming store and decided to venture inside. Upon entering the store I noticed a section of the store had already been fixed up with Xbox merchandise. While the display's intention was for early marketing and to showoff, I was very happy to see that the Xbox display was looking so good. The game boxes and the Xbox box itself were 'for display only,' but that didn't stop me from feeling like we are a little closer to November 8th than I had thought.
Seeing all the DVD cased for the games was great. Other people in the store were very interested in what this Xbox was all about and many people spent time reading each of the game boxes to see what the Xbox had to offer. Since there is still a large number of people who haven't heard much about the Xbox, this early display is a great idea to get people interested.
So after spending about 20 minutes looking around I pressed onward. Just as I was leaving the store something else caught my attention. To my surprise I noticed yet another Xbox display in the front window of the store. This display, however, was very interesting because of the circumstance of the display itself.
As you can see, there is a large Mario figure shown in the front window...but wait, what's this? Mario is almost blocked out by the Xbox boxes. I thought this was rather amusing, seeing Mario 'buried' by the Xbox. So I decided to take a couple photos to share with you, and maybe you will see the humor in this as I did.
I guess the Xbox is taking its place a little early...sorry Mario. Now don't get me wrong here, I'm not bashing anyone, I'm just commenting on the display. I'm sure the store will find a more suitable place for Mario to be displayed, I could think of a few places...
