On Wednesday, Microsoft made available for download the Microsoft Expression Design June 2012 Preview, which comes along with new features, bug fixes, and a series of stability enhancements for the previous release. The new flavor of the tool was packed with four new features aimed at enabling users to further expand and refine their workflow.
Thus, Expression Design June 2012 Preview comes with support for importing EPS files, while also providing the possibility to make multiple selections in the Layers palette.
To import EPS files, one would simply have to go to the File menu, then click on Import Encapsulated Postscript File.
Moreover, the app was designed so as to retain the adjusted position of an object’s registration point, and also offers support for exporting documents to the SVG format.
“Expression Design Preview adds the ability to quickly select a range of layers in the Layers panel, as well as a range of groups and objects, by pressing Shift and clicking in the panel to select a range, or by pressing Ctrl and clicking in the panel to select non-contiguous layers,” Microsoft explains.
The multiple selection function works in the same manner in which it can be used in Windows Explorer, the company also notes.
“Expression Design September Preview adds the ability to export a document in SVG format. Exporting in SVG enables you to integrate vector artwork content into HTML applications that you design using such programs as Expression Blend,” the app’s release notes unveil.
The new release of Expression Design arrives with support for computers running under Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP Service Pack 3.
It requires .NET Framework 4.0, Silverlight 4.0, 1024 x 768 or higher resolution monitor with 24-bit color, Microsoft DirectX 9.0 graphics with Windows Vista Display Driver Model (WDDM) Driver, and Internet access for Internet functionality.
