The BSD Certification Group (BSDCG) is pleased to offer the BSDA certification exam to attendees of Texas LinuxFest.

The exam will be paper based and in English. Exam information is available from the Certification page of the BSDCG website. Exam candidates should be proficient in the BSDA Certification Requirements and the Command Reference, both of which are available for free download from this page of the website.

Participants need to register for a BSDCG ID. Once you
have an ID, you can choose an exam location and pay for the exam. The exam price is $75 USD and payable through Paypal or credit card.

Exams will be held on Friday August 3rd at the Norris Conference Center during the Texas Linux Fest.

Volunteers are needed for TXLF 2012! So sign up if you would like to volunteer to make TXLF 2012 a huge success!

Note: There are a limited number of volunteers needed and are first come first serve, but we thank everyone who wishes to volunteer their time!

Wanted to submit a talk proposal to Texas Linux Fest 2012, but just ran out of time? Good news! We have decided to extend the CFP until June 15 to give more presenters time to put together their sessions. We have had great submissions so far, but we want to make sure everyone has the chance to send in their talk proposal.

Talk sessions are 30 minutes in length. You can find more details, including how to arrange any special needs for your session, on the original CFP announcement page. Read up, then hit the Submit Session link.

If you have already submitted your talk proposal, don't worry -- we will begin letting accepted speakers know next week so that you will have the maximum amount of time to plan your trip. For everyone else -- send in that proposal!

Texas Linux Fest 2012 is the third annual Linux and open source software event for Texas and the surrounding region. We are assembling a one day program for the business and home Linux user, and for the experienced developer and newcomer alike.

Session slots are 30 minutes in length. However, if you have a strong case for presenting a double-length presentation or workshop, please let us know in the "special arrangements" section. We cannot guarantee availability, so be prepared to discuss your plan. Basic technical setup will include an overhead projector and a Linux laptop with PDF and LibreOffice presentation software. Special setup needs will be accommodated; simply let us know in the "special arrangements" section.

We're currently talking to several venues in the Austin area about hosting the 2012 TXLF. Austin is a popular city these days so we have to compete with lots of local events as well as try to not conflict with other FOSS events around the world. On top of this, we're a bit too big for many of the smaller Austin venues and not quite big enough for the Austin Convention Center, which narrows down the field of venues we can use.

We're aiming for a bit later in the year this time around instead of April. I'll post an update as soon as we sign a venue.
