Call For Papers extended to June 15

Fri, 06/01/2012 - 17:33 -- n8willis

Wanted to submit a talk proposal to Texas Linux Fest 2012, but just ran out of time? Good news! We have decided to extend the CFP until June 15 to give more presenters time to put together their sessions. We have had great submissions so far, but we want to make sure everyone has the chance to send in their talk proposal.

Just as a reminder, topics of interest include (but are not limited to):

  • The Linux Kernel
  • Open Source Programming Languages
  • Databases
  • Linux Distributions: Desktop, Server, and Mobile
  • Embedded Linux and Open Source on Devices
  • Open Hardware
  • Network Services
  • Free Software Licensing
  • Community Management
  • Open Source Multimedia
  • Open Source in Government
  • Linux and Open Source For Beginners
  • Open Source For Small Businesses
  • Open Source Marketing and Evangelism
  • Open Source in Education
  • Open Source in Science and Medicine

Talk sessions are 30 minutes in length. You can find more details, including how to arrange any special needs for your session, on the original CFP announcement page. Read up, then hit the Submit Session link.

If you have already submitted your talk proposal, don't worry -- we will begin letting accepted speakers know next week so that you will have the maximum amount of time to plan your trip. For everyone else -- send in that proposal!

Announcing Date and Venue

Sat, 04/14/2012 - 15:01 -- Brandon Williams

August 3-4 at the Norris Conference Center in San Antonio, Tx.

Stay tuned for more info on hotels, local grub, directions and more.

Planning for 2012 is under way!

Sat, 03/24/2012 - 21:15 -- Brandon Williams

We're currently talking to several venues in the Austin area about hosting the 2012 TXLF. Austin is a popular city these days so we have to compete with lots of local events as well as try to not conflict with other FOSS events around the world. On top of this, we're a bit too big for many of the smaller Austin venues and not quite big enough for the Austin Convention Center, which narrows down the field of venues we can use.

We're aiming for a bit later in the year this time around instead of April. I'll post an update as soon as we sign a venue.

Stay tuned!
