26 July 2012:

  • Science - 2011 impact factor of 31.20 and five-year impact factor of 32.45.
  • Science Signaling - 2011 impact factor of 7.50. The journal, which first published in January 2008, now ranks amongst the top 20% of all Cell Biology Journals.
  • Science Translational Medicine - 2011 impact factor of 7.80. This is double the 2010 score of the journal which first published in October 2009.

2 February 2012: AAAS/Science collaborates with three highly regarded organizations to offer prizes that reward the research of scientists. All awards are presented at the AAAS Annual Meeting immediately following the award year.

GE & Science Prize for Young Life Scientists
The GE & Science Prize for Young Life Scientists recognizes and rewards outstanding Ph.D. graduate students from around the world in their work within the field of molecular biology. The grand prize is US$25,000 and regional prizes are for US$5,000 each. Read More. Next Application Deadline: August 1, 2012

Eppendorf & Science Prize for Neurobiology
This prize acknowledges the increasingly active and important role of neurobiology in advancing our understanding of the brain and nervous system. Newcomb Cleveland Prize
The Association's oldest award, the AAAS Newcomb Cleveland Prize, supported by Affymetrix, was established in 1923 with funds donated by Newcomb Cleveland of New York City and was originally called the AAAS Thousand Dollar Prize. It is now known as the AAAS Newcomb Cleveland Prize, and its value has been raised to US$25,000. The winner also receives a bronze medal, complimentary registration, and reimbursement for reasonable travel and hotel expenses to attend the AAAS Annual Meeting. Read More. spacer Academics throughout Russia Gain Access to the Science Classic Digital Archive

21 December 2011: The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) announces that the Russian Ministry of Education and Science has selected Science Classic, the digital archives of Science (1880-1996), as the first acquisition in a major project to provide national access to scientific archives. Russian students, scientists, and professors can now access 116 years of Science's archive through a local platform provided by the National Electronic Information Consortium (NEICON).

spacer Algerian Ministry of Higher Education Obtains a Three-Year Subscription to Science

28 November 2011: The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), publisher of the journal Science, partners with the Algerian Ministry of Higher Education and Research to provide academic and research institutions across Algeria with site-wide access to Science. The national three-year site licensing agreement allows users to view full-text articles from the flagship journal online.

Dr. Mary Beth Bauer and Dr. Adeola R. Davis, our guest speakers from the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Eskind Biomedical Library in Nashville, Tennessee, USA, were pleased to present their programs on Knowledge Management and Health Literacy to an engaged audience.

19 July 2011: Science earned a 2010 impact factor of 31.36.

AAAS is also pleased to announce the first impact factor ranking of its two newest journals:

  • Science Signaling, first published in January 2008, earned a 2010 impact factor of 6.12.
  • Science Translational Medicine, first published in October 2009, earned a 2010 impact factor of 3.51.
