Discussions

The website has public mailing lists covering a variety of subjects. There are lists specific to Community Groups, Projects, and User Groups; there are general lists that span the entire community; and there are IRC chat rooms available for many groups.

Mailing Lists

Go to the mailing list page to subscribe to any list. You don't have to be registered on the site to send email to a mailing list. However, if you are not subscribed to the list to which you send mail, your mail may be held for approval by a moderator or it might be rejected if the list does not accept email from non-subscribers. 

Also note that any email sent to a mailing list will make your email address publicly visible via the website. For a reference about Mailman email commands and delivery options, please see the GNU Mailman List Member Manual here and here.

Jive Forums

The Jive discussion forums have been decommissioned. Content in the forums will remain in the corresponding Mailman lists, and discussions will continue on those lists. If you have participated in discussions on the Jive forums, you will need to subscribe to the matching mail lists. Oracle Solaris users may also be interested in the forum discussions at the Oracle Technology Network.
