What I learned from Sheriff Andy Griffith
As a child, we were blessed to have TBS Superstation out of Atlanta show an after school lineup of some of the best television ever made. We thought the Monkees, Hazel and even the Brady Bunch were present day shows and grew up rushing home to watch these great shows. When the whistling introduction to [...]

Good Grief: Finally finding acceptance and thriving in life
There are universals in life. Among those is grief and grieving a loss. For me, the grieving process has included the loss of friendships, the death of my father and the loss of a long-term relationship within a relatively short amount of time. The grieving process for loss is often talked about as coming in [...]

I have finally found a church home in Austin. Today I joined First United Methodist Church and am relieved to finally have a foundation and a home base for my Faith in Austin.

Profiles in Courage
President Obama, on the very day North Carolina voters put a ban on civil unions and marriage equality in their state constitution, spoke out on Marriage Equality. The news, on a Wednesday no less, has dominated the news cycle. To me, it is nice to see a leader be so bold on an issue that [...]

Slave labor is flourishing in China
The much anticipated audit of Apple’s China suppliers is complete. To no one’s surprise the companies are in violation of China’s work laws. China isn’t a country known and heralded for worker’s rights so that’s saying a lot.ย More than 60% of the workers at three of Apple supplier Foxconn’s factories in China say their wages [...]

Finding a Church Home
My spiritual life is very important to me. I have noticed to talk about God creates more kerfuffles with my friends than if you were to talk about drinking to a black out does.
I have lived in Austin for 9 years and have not found a church home. I get motivated and start spending my [...]

How dare you flaunt your heterosexuality.
In this video, Janelle says that the masculinity of her father helped her find the man she wanted to marry…a similar awful close minded person. Janelle and Brian speak for nearly 6 minutes about how marriage is between a man and a woman and that gay people shouldn’t have the right to that same [...]
