The following is adapted from remarks Heritage Foundation President Ed Feulner delivered Wednesday to Heritage staff.

I imagine that, besieged and belittled on all sides, and confronted with such a formidable array of adversaries – in the White House, Congress, the media and the academy – all determined to undo the Reagan Revolution and establish the Obama Revolution in its stead, many of you may look around in despair and ask: “Where is the cavalry that can come galloping to our rescue and save us from disaster?”

But I have news for you: This time around, we at The Heritage Foundation are the cavalry.

We are the flagship conservative organization that carries on the Reagan legacy.

We are the people conservatives look to stop the Obama Revolution in its tracks.

In large measure, it’s up to us to nobly save, or meanly lose, this great American experiment in democratic self-government. Continue Reading »

No, Obamacare Isn’t a Settled Issue

Does President Obama’s reelection mean Obamacare is a settled issue? Far from it, Heritage Foundation scholar Stuart Butler argues on the Journal of the American Medical Association website.

In fact, the challenges facing Obamacare (formally the Affordable Care Act) are actually just getting started, Butler says:

The primary reasons for this are the continuing problems with the federal budget deficit and the national debt and the worrying long-term weakness of the economy. Add to that the increasing skepticism that the ACA’s blunt tools will slow costs.

Heritage’s Bob Moffit outlined a plan to repeal Obamacare earlier this year in National Affairs.

Simple Solutions that Can Increase Economic Freedom

There has been no boost in trade freedom over the last year, according to the forthcoming 2013 Index of Economic Freedom.

The global level of economic freedom rose steadily for 15 years, according to the Index, which Heritage publishes annually with the Wall Street Journal. Since 2011, however, economic freedom has stalled at a score of 74.5 out of 100. The United States recently fell from the ranks of free countries and is now classified as “mostly free.”
