The Mike Dyson: Knocking out dirt!

spacer

Yesterday morning, while having brunch with some friends, the topic of the vacuums came up. [Wow, that was a manly statement…] We started talking about the Dyson Vacuum’s and how everyone raves about how super, great, and wonderful they are. Someone even told a story about how it has so much suction, that one lady was killed when it sucked a steak knife from the kitchen on the first floor, through the floor boards, through the Dyson, and then proceeded to stab her in the chest. “Wow..” I though — That’s a good deal of sucking.

So, while reading the Sunday paper, I found a deal on a Dyson that I couldn’t pass up. Pretty much after playing some coupon and Mail-in-Rebate Bingo, I was able to purchase one for 50% off the normal price. So, I figured it was time for a little experiment. Pretty much, if the Dyson didn’t pick up a significant amount more dust/dirt after running our usual vacuum, I was going to take it right back to where I bought it. Sounds fair right?

1. First, the carpeted area of our house is about 1200 sq. feet.
2. Second, we vacuumed the whole house with our normal vacuum.
3. Third, purchased and assembled the Dyson.
4. Vacuumed Again.

Results: We emptied the canister on the Dyson Twice. I was simply amazed.

In the words of Jon Stone: “It’s really a shame you need to pay $500 for a Vacuum cleaner that actually Vacuums” — Luckily for me, I only had to pay Half that… ;)

    Hey Celly,

We bought a Dyson Animal today. Brian said you would be so proud.

We got a flyer from Target in the paper today that had a good price and a $55 target gift card with purchase. I checked Amazon and if you included the gift card, it was about the same.

We went to Target but the sale started tomorrow and they wouldn’t honor the flyer. Ugh.

We came home and purchased it from Amazon and they gave free shipping and didn’t charge us tax. So we ended up saving $18 if we included the $55 gift card.

Woo Hoo. Can’t wait until Wednesday when it comes!
