November in the … horse latitudes.

spacer

It has come to my attention lately that dwelling here in the Horse Latitudes may well be the most ideal situation. Hurricanes wipe out most of the offending vegetation on a bi-annual basis. New flea, fly, and mosquito infestations occur on a bi-weekly rotation, even in the winter. Gnats. Mules still pull plows. The cotton fields are mighty beautiful lately, what with the defoliant sprayed upon them. The poison and chemicals in the fields sure do...

10-11-12 My Favorite Day so Far This Year

spacer

This day made fabulous by my amazing and wonderful two grandsons who came roaring into the house around 3:30, straight from school. “Straight from school” means no interim cool down period. It is raw boy time, unfiltered and uncensored. O at 8 is lost in spelling words, playground inventions (which include teepees created out of sticks and wind-scattered tarp pieces found in a ditch) but sadly, he’s left the dinosaur-era that...

The Last Days

spacer

Early in the year of 2012, I found myself incapacitated by flu. This illness was quickly followed by strep throat. Within a few weeks after the strep episode, my knee yielded 60cc’s of fluid and after the removal of said fluid, my meniscus ripped in a couple places. Now I wait for surgery which is to take place on April 30. The point is — once this knee gets the attention it needs, it is time for me to get back on track. Deliver more...

James Bridle and Bookleteer and more…

spacer

First person to pierce the dim-witted exterior of my endeavor, a young man by the name of James Bridle — whose writing can be accessed in several places but for now, booktwo.org will do as a reference point. Not only does he write quite well (kudos to UK education, I suppose, or he could be a natural with technical superiority) but his information sends me in the correct direction. I’m not overwhelmed by geegaws and shiny internet...

The Editor’s Moment – creating an Amazon Kindle ebook

spacer

In order to learn new technology, one must experiment and compose from within the new perimeters. In the spirit of ever-increasing e-book and online reading potential, it’s time for me to venture outside my comfort zone and try Kindle publishing. I’ve know how to create a .pdf since most of you were toddling around in spanky pants … the format was adopted in 1993 for crap’s sake. For my initial foray into this type of...

Dear Friends I’ve Never Met

spacer

Isn’t it odd how in 2012 we can call someone a dear friend and have never met the person? We probably don’t even know what he/she looks like and yet, they are friends. Often this seems disingenuous, a group-speak continuum with an insincere motive. In my case, though, I don’t have time to waste on insincere moments or personalities. One dear friend unmet is John Tarkov. We’ve been chatting online for a few years, each...

From Literature’s Front Door Out Through A Fluxus Rear

spacer

The Spatula Center represents Assemblage artists and their utensils. Permanent installations only. You see, I lost my blog. Last year, Mental Kudzu went the way of many internet foibles and I am recreating it, bit by bit, via the WayBack Machine. Here’s a bit… there will be more. Friends and foe alike are asking the same question. Why go from writing to 3-D mixed media art? This question, more often than not, is accompanied by...

About Me

spacer The other side of artist and publisher me. Daily masterworks that should be in every home. I am then never less alone than when alone. I go out of town in order to forget the town and all that is in it.

I love Fluxus ReadyMades. My heroes are all artists, even though I do love cowboys but I don't want my babies to grow up to be one.
It's been a truly great ride. Thanks to you all.
