StrongMail Systems Announces Availability of Goodmail Imprinter Appliances

StrongMail imprinters give qualified email senders a quick, low-cost way to take advantage of Goodmail’s CertifiedEmail service at AOL and other domains

Redwood City, Calif., April 11, 2006 – StrongMail Systems, Inc., the innovation leader in email infrastructure, today announced the general availability of its Goodmail Imprinter Appliances. These specialized, rack-ready servers are built on StrongMail’s world-class infrastructure software that has been preconfigured for use with Goodmail’s CertifiedEmail service.

StrongMail is one of only two providers who have been selected to offer a Goodmail-tested and approved appliance with the token imprinting capabilities for Goodmail’s CertifiedEmail service. To qualify for this distinction, the StrongMail platform has passed Goodmail’s rigorous testing and will operate with the most current version of Goodmail specifications at all times.

Once accredited by Goodmail, email senders simply need to connect the power and network cables for their Imprinter Appliance from StrongMail to access the benefits of Goodmail’s CertifiedEmail service. Messages sent through the Appliance will be selectively embedded with a cryptographically-secure token based upon the sender’s business rules. When tokenized messages are detected by participating mailbox providers, including AOL and Yahoo!, they are reliably delivered to the recipient’s inbox – avoiding bulk or junk folders – with a symbol indicating that they are safe to open.

The Goodmail Imprinter Appliances from StrongMail will be available in several models to match the performance, network architecture and functionality requirements of different senders.

Wedge Deployment. StrongMail is offering a low-cost, specially designed appliance to enterprises for ‘wedge’ deployments now. This appliance sits in the SMTP stream between the sender’s business applications and their existing outbound MTA(s). No change in the current operating environment is required. The imprinter selectively embeds email messages with a cryptographically-secure token based on the sender’s business rules and forwards messages to the existing outbound MTA(s) for final delivery.

As a special introductory offer to enterprises accredited under Goodmail’s charter program, the Imprinter Appliance designed for wedge deployment is priced at a significant discount. If software-only is desired, StrongMail will provide it for free to enterprises. Except for an annual support fee, there will be no additional charges for set-up, volume (CPM) or speed.

Edge Deployment. All of StrongMail’s high-performance digital messaging servers will soon be available with an option for Goodmail’s CertifiedEmail service. Goodmail-accredited senders will be able to selectively embed email messages with a cryptographically-secure token that ensures messages bypass filters at participating mailbox providers and are safe to open. Standard StrongMail pricing for its digital messaging servers will apply. The Goodmail imprinting functionality will be provided for free. There will be no additional charge for set-up, volume (CPM) or speed of the imprinting function.

StrongMail strives to support all commercial solutions that restore trust and reliability to the email channel, thereby allowing businesses to choose the solution that best suits their needs. According to Dave Lewis, VP of alliances and market development for StrongMail, “AOL’s adoption of Goodmail validates the need for reputation-based services that differentiate legitimate email from spam in the eyes of recipients and ensure the reliable delivery of email for online communication and commerce.”

“Goodmail Systems and StrongMail share the goal of bringing greater trust and reliability to email,” said John Ouren, SVP of sales, and business development at Goodmail Systems, Inc. “We have chosen to partner with StrongMail because of its emergence as an industry leader in providing a high-performance platform to create, deliver and manage email communications. StrongMail’s Appliance will provide senders an easy way to implement the tokenization of messages as Goodmail CertifiedEmail for assured delivery by ISPs and safe recognition by consumers.”
