SND Publications
SND publishes a quarterly journal (available free to members and for general sales), an annual book (members and general sales), an annual CD (general sales), a newsletter (members only), and other books, CDs and DVS (general sales). Most of the following publications can be ordered, along with other items, directly from The SND Store.
Design: The quarterly magazine keeps you on the edge of current trends in the profession and gives you useful tips on technology, typography and design techniques. Read timely articles by some of the world's best designers and see outstanding examples of their work. It's thought-provoking and informative. Individual current and back issues may be purchased, or you can buy sets of 10 consecutive issues. Or, search back issues for articles of interest and purchase the issue.
SND Update: Eight times a year, SND's newsletter keeps you abreast of news about the organization and its members. Get the latest on SND programs and regional activities close to you. The newsletter also offers lots of tips and tricks, as well as the world-renowned "Dear Update" column offering free advice. Technology and Pagination: The Society for News Design, in conjunction with the American Society of Newspaper Editors, has written a workbook and guide to pagination. Finally, pagination without the aggravation.
"The Best of Newspaper Design™": SND's annual book displays the results of the annual competition, with information about the contest, the winners, the winning pieces, judges' comments, and more. This current edition is available for $35.00. Previous editions may also be ordered through The SND Store.
"World's Best Designed™ Newspapers CD": This compact disk, published annually, has more than 90 images of newspapers named each year as "World's Best-Designed," along with judges' comments. Great for classrooms, seminars, and brown-bag lunches!
"25 Influential Moment in News Design": This historic project, created as part of SND's 25th anniversary celebration, is now available as a 70-minute DVD. The project recaps some 40 years of significant advances in news design as seen through the eyes of internationally known designers, educators and SND past presidents.The DVD contains interviews with Nanette Bisher, Richard Curtis, Rodrigo Sanchez, Louis Silverstein, and other design veterans as well as examples of milestones in news design.
