1. ICON does not have co-management doctors.
Co-management means an outside doctor refers you to a surgeon. Then the referring eye doctor receives a commission from the LASIK clinic. The commission is usually passed right on to the patient. While some argue this isn't ethical to offer doctors commissions, ICON does not see anything inherently wrong with paying doctors for their work, it just isn't as efficient as ICON's business model.

2. ICON owns multiple state of the art lasers.
ICON's lasers builds its own state of the art surgery rooms in each location. Many clinics rent lasers from other doctors, this means they do not have enough business to purchase their own lasers i.e. they have less experience than ICON.
