How to Become a Member
Becoming a member of McLean Bible Church is all about commitment.
Our commitment is to help you become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. We believe that four spiritual disciplines are essential to your spiritual development:
- Grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ
- Connect in biblical community
- Serve in your God-given ministry
- Share the message of Jesus Christ
Becoming a member is a way to for you demonstrate your commitment to us. If McLean Bible Church is your home, and you share our passion for making an impact on secular Washington with the message of Jesus Christ, we invite you to become a member.
Members participate in quarterly congregational meetings and vote on important issues such as the election of elders, the acceptance of new members and the annual budget. In addition, membership is required for certain volunteer positions such as teachers.
We encourage spiritual growth and worship through baptism and giving financially, but these are not a requirement for membership at McLean Bible Church.
HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER
- Attend a New Member Orientation
- Next Meeting is Sunday, February 24, 2013 from 2:00-4:30 pm at the Tysons Campus in the Main Auditorium.
This class is held three times a year and is a requirement for all prospective members. This is a great way to learn about our vision, values, staff, and beliefs. It is also your opportunity to ask Lon Solomon, our Senior Pastor, questions about the church.
You do not need to pre-register for the Orientation meetings.
We offer childcare for the Orientation meetings, and in order to ensure we can care for your children properly, we ask that you register your children by clicking here. APPLICATION PROCESS
You will receive your application at the membership orientation. Married couples need to complete two separate application forms. Give or mail the application forms to the attention of Caring Ministry, P.O. Box 9300, McLean, VA 22102-0300. Membership applications will then be forwarded to the Board of Elders.
One of the elders will call you to schedule a short personal interview. This will be within 30-60 days of handing in your application.
After the Board of Elders has approved your application, the names of the prospective members will be presented at the next quarterly congregational meeting and voted upon by existing members. All new member candidates should make every effort to be at the congregational meeting so that they may be recognized and introduced as new members of McLean Bible Church.
