Thirty years ago UNICEF launched a “Child Survival Revolution” - a focused effort to reduce the number of young children dying from malnutrition and disease. At the time, 14 million children under the age of five died every year around the world - 40,000 per day.
June 14 and 15, world leaders convened in Washington, DC, to create a roadmap toward ending preventable childhood deaths. The gathering was co-convened by the United States, Ethiopia, and India, in close partnership with UNICEF.
