An independent bookseller in Hyde Park serving readers locally and worldwide.
Dear Members of the Seminary Co-op Bookstore,
We are delighted to tell you that the bookstore will begin moving on November 12 to its new space in McGiffert House, the building at 5751 S. Woodlawn just north of Robie House.
The existing University Avenue store will be open through Sunday, November 11. We welcome you to stop in for one last visit to the old store. The store will then be closed for about a week during the move; during that time the 57th Street store will be open and you will be able to place phone and online orders. We look forward to celebrating with you at our grand reopening. You will hear more news about this soon.
In the meantime, we also want to share important information about our plans to ensure the success of the Seminary Co-op into the future. The Co-op is at a critical moment in its history. Like many independent bookstores, we face challenges greater than any before, but we also have an opportunity now to strengthen the store, grow our membership, and increase the Co-op’s presence in your lives. Please read our complete letter about plans for the Co-op at (www.semcoop.com/letter-seminary-co-op-bookstore-board).
Thank you for your continued support and engagement in the Seminary Co-op. We hope to see you in the new store or hear from you via e-mail or online book purchases.
Your fellow book lovers,
Jack Cella, Bookstore Manager (email@example.com)
William Gerstein, President, and Arthur Sussman, Vice-President, on behalf of the Seminary Co-op Board(firstname.lastname@example.org)
From all of us at the Seminary Co-op,
for 51 years of tremendous support.
Our last day at our 5757 S. University Avenue location will be Sunday, November 11th. We will reopen on Wednesday, November 21st, one block east at
5751 S. Woodlawn.
This is the last week to see the Seminary Co-op in its original location. Please come visit us at our new -above ground- location after we've reopened!
Our 57th Street Books location at 1301 E 57th St., phone number, (773)684-1300, will be open its usual hours during the move.
Two members of the Co-op have undertaken a project to record and document the store before it moves. We hope you will consider participating in their Seminary Co-op Documentary Project.
