Pick the Worst Liberal Media Bias of 2011

By NB Staff | December 13, 2011 | 10:09

A  A

Every year a panel of leading expert conservative media observers pick the most-biased media quotes for the Media Research Center’s annual awards for the year’s “worst reporting.” And these judges have done so again this year to decide the 2011 award “winners,” with the choices to be announced on Monday, December 19.

In the meantime, you can have some fun making your own choices now in this unofficial “public ballot” tabulation.

For each of the 16 categories, pick one quote – the one you think is the most outrageous in the category.

spacer Then move on through all of the categories. If the buttons are grayed out, that’s because you’ve already cast your votes, but you can still read the quotes and play the videos.

This public Web balloting opened on Monday, December 12 at 10 a.m. EST and will close at 4 p.m. EST on Thursday, December 15.

The “public ballot’ winners and results will be posted on Friday morning, December 16. Then, on Monday December 19, we’ll post the official results as selected by the judges and you can compare their picks to yours.

Be sure to vote at our MRC.org ballot page and leave your comments below about whom you picked and why.

Some of those categories should have allowed for multiple choices.

The celebutards....Roseanne had me going until that faux-pseudo-intellectual rant by Steve Weber. Self important little jerk.

I still can't believe that Maher didn't say anything more deserving of a belt to bite down on than the quote on the page, though.

Voted for Krugman, but Margaret Carlson was close on the first one. I wonder if we played these again, would "moderates" recognize that the appropriate parallel is the Occupy protests?

"[Bachmann] and her allies have been called a maniacal gang of knife-wielding ideologues."

Well, Obama has been called a cocaine-snorting homosexual by people citing Larry Sinclair. He has been called a "Marxist", a "Manchurian Candidate", how far out do you have to go before "have been called" is questionable?

And why can't I vote "All the above" for the Matthews-isms?

Missing?

Submitted by Fredy on Mon, 12/12/2011 - 1:46pm.

I thought one of the most absurd rambling media fantasies of the year was the re-stating of what Sarah Palin mentioned about Paul Revere.

While the historians pointed out what Palin stated was factually correct, the msm, and many other Palin haters, made false claims for days. Even to the point of trying to re-write history to claim she was wrong.

I had Brian Williams, and nbc news, as the winner with 3 broadcasts of absurdly compounded lies instead of simply admitting they were wrong in the first place.

Palin and MSM

Don't forget her completely accurate statement about why the British troops were sent to Lexington and Concord. Or her reference of the year of the Boston Tea Party (not the Declaration of Independence). What little gray matter the MSM has gets shut down when Palin speaks....

The single most egregious

The single most egregious example of media bias is their continuous, over the the top, rump swabbing for President Pinocchio Obama. Completely shameless.

On the right side of my screen, there is a picture of a woman peeling latex off of her face. That's bad enough, but the obnoxious ad keeps jumping all over the place. I hope this ad is in violation of some kind of nuisance clause in your terms of advertisement.

I use FF for NewsBusters, and the AdBlock Plus add-in does wonders for the annoying ads. (Plus I can block the troll pics on my Gator boards). Give it a shot, you won't be disappointed.

... Does that ad say "51 Year-old woman in [your cities name]... The ad on my screen lists my town - but I have never seen her around.

- If your town is listed, and it is differnt from mine - Would that violate any "honest advertising" clause???

My pick: the MSM's blaming of Palin for the AZ shootings

Submitted by Rusty Shackleford on Tue, 12/13/2011 - 2:07pm.

My pick: the MSM's blaming of Palin for the AZ shootings

While this example is not glitzy or funny like a lot of the others, I believe it is the most heinous and therefore the best pick for the year. Within hours of the shooting the MSM was nearly unanimous in blaming the attack on Palin, and I think in a couple days it basically was unanimous.

The reason this one is so important is because there was no connection whatsoever between Palin and the shooter, but within hours the MSM was blaming her for it. It clearly came off as a per-arranged smear campaign waiting for a tragedy to exploit in order to launch into it. Someone clearly decided, within minutes, that this incident would be the tragedy they'd exploit to condemn Palin, and the rest of the media followed suit.

So while everything else is and will be great examples of bias, this should win due to how prearranged and disgusting it was.

Another reason is that it happened in early 2011 and annual lists like these tend to forget about things that happened earlier in the year. :)

If you think 2011 was a banner year for liberal stupidity...

...wait until 2012 right after the Iowa caucuses. The idiocy, lunacy and filth coming from the left will start to intensify as the year progresses towards the election. Even after the election, there will be another crescendo depending on the results. If Ear Leader is kicked out, we can look forward to 2013 being worse.
