Netflix's Ted Sarandos to Keynote 6th Annual Hollywood Reporter Power Lawyers Breakfast

The Hollywood Reporter will honor the top 100 entertainment lawyers in America at the sixth annual THR Power Lawyers Breakfast on July 18, featuring Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos in a keynote Q&A. The event will also pay special tribute to Viacom general counsel Michael Fricklas, who will receive the 2012 Raising the Bar Award, presented by Paramount CEO Brad Grey. The event, which takes place at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills, will also launch THR's annual Power Lawyers issue.

At the breakfast event, Sarandos, who has made waves in the entertainment industry by bringing Netflix into the content creation market, will lead a Q&A session moderated by THR news director Matthew Belloni. Fricklas will receive the Raising the Bar Award for an in-house lawyer who has made a lasting impact on Hollywood and the entertainment industry.

"Michael Fricklas was chosen for this year's Raising the Bar Award because his work for Viacom has distinguished the company on several legal issues important to Hollywood, especially the war on piracy," says Belloni, who oversees THR's award-winning legal coverage with senior editor Eriq Gardner and launched the Power Lawyers issue and event in 2007.

Called a "complete list" of insider entertainment law by the American Bar Association, the THR Power Lawyers list features entertainment's top talent dealmakers, litigation specialists, legal troubleshooters and corporate dealmakers. The list is compiled by THR's entertainment law journalists and draws on coverage from its leading entertainment law blog, Hollywood, Esq.

Last year's Power Lawyers issue brought together the three high-powered entertainment lawyers representing all of the parties involved in Charlie Sheen's $100 million lawsuit against Warner Bros. and Two and a Half Men showrunner Chuck Lorre. Previous recipients of the Raising the Bar Award include Jonathan Anschell, general counsel at CBS, and Leah Weil, general counsel at Sony Pictures.
