U.S. Embassy Hanoi is pleased to announce that the EducationUSA Advising Center in Hanoi officially opened on September 13, 2010. Located at the U.S. Embassy’s Rose Garden Tower, First Floor, 170 Ngoc Khanh, Ba Dinh, the EducationUSA Advising Center provides accurate, comprehensive, objective and timely information on a full range of accredited schools in the U.S. EducationUSA gives guidance to prospective students on how to best access educational opportunities in the U.S. Our EducationUSA Advisor helps students determine the necessary steps to apply to college, find information about financial aid opportunities and select the school which matches students’ goals and interests.

On September 13, 2010, at the grand opening ceremony of the EducationUSA Advising Center at the U.S Embassy in Hanoi, U.S. Ambassador Michael Michalak, offered remarks on U.S. higher education, EducationUSA and accreditation. The Ambassador encouraged Vietnamese institutions as well as Vietnamese students to conduct thorough research to determine whether a school meets the academic standards that they desire. The Ambassador stated that the U.S. Department of State does not endorse any schools or agents. Following his remarks, the Ambassador and the EducationUSA Advisor officially opened the Advising Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Is your school accredited?

  • The U.S. Department of State, through its EducationUSA offices in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, supports the provision of free-of-charge information about the more than 4,000 institutions of higher education in the United States. EducationUSA provides this unbiased, accurate information to interested individuals and institutions.

Before applying to study in the United States, prospective students must undertake "due diligence". That is, they must carefully investigate the schools they plan to attend and the educational programs they wish to pursue. The first and most important step in determining a school’s quality and legitimacy is to see whether or not it is accredited. This is easy to do.  Simply look at the following websites of the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.  These websites will explain what accreditation means and allow prospective students to check the status of their schools of choice.
