The Ubuntu Global Jam is an incredible opportunity for the Ubuntu community to unite together around the weekend of 2nd - 4th September 2011 to work together to improve Ubuntu. Everyone is able to contribute to the Jam, and everyone is welcome and encouraged to get involved. Curious about how to make a real difference to Ubuntu? This is a great chance to make that difference.
Where: | 1201 South Hayes Street, Arlington, VA 22202 Borders @ Pentagon City Mall in Arlington, VA |
An opportunity to be seen by more of the unwashed masses and other riff-raff who wander through the mall. ;-) Also, an opportunity for those Virginians who dare not brave the wilds of DC.
On Saturday, October 16 from 1 to 4 pm we will be having a "release party" for Ubuntu Sugar Remix (USR). This is a joint event between the DC OLPC Learning Club (olpclearningclub.org) and our own LoCo Team. I'd like to make an appeal to any and all Ubuntu activists who would like to see Ubuntu be more widely used to join us in the development of USR. Adding Sugar to Ubuntu creates a computer for the whole family (see proyectojuanchacon.blogspot.com/2010/10/introducing-ubuntu-family...).
The Maverick Meerkat (no relation to the Maverick McCain) is rapidly approaching. In a parallel universe, some of our LoCo folks — among them, Luke Faraone and Jeff Elkner — are lobbying, cajoling, and fixing last minute issues with the Ubuntu Sugar Remix (USR) in an effort to get it included in the official set of supported goodies.
Still waiting for confirmation (as of 2010.07.29), but if the check is eventually cashed by festival officials, we'll be tabling once again at the Takoma Park Folk Festival.
