When you apply for a Social Security number (SSN), the Social Security Administration (SSA) will assign you a nine-digit number, which is the same number printed on your Social Security card.
Get or Replace a Social Security Card- The Social Security Administration does not process Social Security Card applications online.
- Local Social Security offices issue new or replacement cards.
