Awesome News – Facebook Acquires Face.com
Facebook has acquired Face.com! Our mission is and has always been to find new and exciting ways to make face recognition a fun, engaging part of people’s lives, and incorporate remarkable technology into everyday consumer products. If you’re anything like us, Facebook is a part of your life every single day. We keep up with our friends and family, share interesting (or mundane) experiences from our daily lives, and perhaps most importantly for us, we share a LOT of photos.
We love building products, and like our friends at Facebook, we think that mobile is a critical part of people’s lives as they both create and consume content, and share contentwith their social graph. By working with Facebook directly, and joining their team, we’ll have more opportunities to build amazing products that will be employed by consumers – that’s all we’ve ever wanted to do. :)
Now, lots of developers use Face.com technology to power various apps and make wonderful products. We love you guys, and the plan is to continue to support our developer community. If there are new developments you can expect to hear from us here, on the developer blog, and through our developer newsletter.

Is Face.com going to continue the facial recognition API after the Facebook acquisition or not? I need to know if your will continue the service for at least the next year or two.
I did not give Facebook or face.com permission to run their program on my photos. I’d like to stay out of this and this article failed to explain how.

Facial recognition for all the photo’s you’ve ever uploaded to facebook. Awesome. If we combine facebook, google, microsoft and oracle, the system will become self aware.
I don’t know whether this is cool or scary. Now all we need is an ap that runs in the background of facetime and skype that automatically puts a name with a face ….
Soon, every search you do, every email you send, every online purchase you make will be tracked and connected to your ip address which is connected to your happy face that has been facially recognized …..
We should all practice up on “mooooooing”. We are cattle.

A mouse hover tool that posts all the names and faces automatically as you hover your mouse over your house on google maps.
Of course, if you click on any of the faces that appear, it will immediately give you a buying profile, income, ss#, all your relatives names, investments, then…after 30 seconds, port you to that facebook page where you can “like” this post.
