Vikas Mandal / Muzaffarpur Development Agency (MDA) is the out come of a social movement after 1970 when in the district of Muzaffarpur, Musahari Block was under Naxal activism and there was a great threat and concern before the administration at the time. Releasing the gravity of the situation of the area Loknayak Jai Prakash Narayan (J.P.) camped at Mushari and met the cross section of the people during the period to establish peace and tranquility in the area, J.P. being face to face with the people in the area observed the causes of prevailing volatile situation in the area. After deep study and understanding he got prepared comprehensive area plan “Mushari Plan” and came to the conclusion that socio-economic imbalances in the area must be addressed. To harness the local initiatives, an organization “Muzaffarpur Vikas Mandal” (Muzaffarpur Development Agency) was formed under the chairmanship of Jai Prakash Narayan (J.P.). He remained its chairman till his death.

Objective

Our Objectives are:

  • To help blind, old and dependable persons.
  • To promote welfare activity for the helpless.
  • To establish centres for immunization, first aid and common health check-up.
  • To form groups of men, women, farmers and artisans and arrange credit facility for them in the form of loan, grant or revolving fund.
  • To find out and promote talented youths involved in cultural activities in development perspective.
  • To provide employment opportunities through the stitching, embroidery and appliqué work mainly among the rural women.
  • To do relief work during flood, fire, epidemic, drought etc.
  • To promote cultural activities and preserve the culture and tradition of the society.
  • To provide equal opportunities for poor men, women and unemployed youth for gainful employment.
  • To develop infrastructure facilities like water logged drainage, sanitation, road and safe drinking water and low cost house in the village.
  • To raise the level of the education in rural areas by running Non-Formal Education and Adult Education Centres.
  • To motivate people to work for solving water logged problems.
  • To involve village women in herbal promotions.
  • To develop self-help groups and their networking.
  • To work for over all development of the poor people.
  • To conduct sound and feasible welfare and development programmes at remote, far-flung humanity, to join the mission to ensure India as developed nation.
