Why Seattle Geek Therapy?

Geeks, nerds, makers, gamers and hackers are smart. We have the ability to analyze situations and extrapolate. We like to take things apart to see how they work (and sometimes put them back together again). We get highly interested in our projects, sometimes to the detriment of other things that need our attention.

We sometimes wonder what this life is all about and find ourselves asking, “Is this all there is?” We work in cubicle farms or coffee shops. We research what we want to know. We share a set of cultural references that other people often don’t get. We think the Fibonacci sequence is beautiful.

Main-stream therapists might not “get” us. They might want us to spend time with our emotions in ways that don’t resonate or feel effective for us. We probably already know a lot of what garden variety therapists want to tell or teach us.

The goal of Seattle Geek Therapy is to help you become your own most effective therapist, what Kazimerez Dabrowski calls “autopsychotherapy”. Ultimately, Seattle Geek Therapy strives to give you the tools and skills you need to hack your own life to your highest levels of satisfaction and functioning.
