WISCONSIN RANKED #13 IN SITE SELECTION’S 2012 LIST OF “TOP U.S. BUSINESS CLIMATES”
Madison—Site Selection magazine ranked Wisconsin the 13th best state in its 2012 list of “Top U.S. Business Climates” published in the November issue.  For the first time since 1998, Wisconsin is ranked among the top 25 states.   In 1998, Wisconsin was tied for 19th place.

“Our focus is on job creation, and we want business owners to know that Wisconsin is a great place to start, expand, or relocate your company,” Governor Walker said.  “This ranking is a reflection of the actions we are taking to make sure our friends, family members, and neighbors, who have been struggling since 2008, can get good, family-supporting jobs.  Site Selection’s review shows we are heading in the right direction.”

GOVERNOR WALKER UPDATE ON HURRICANE RESPONSE
Madison—Today, Governor Scott Walker praised Wisconsin utility and telecom companies deploying technicians and support staff to states in Hurricane Sandy’s area of impact, and he encouraged Wisconsin citizens to continue looking for ways to help the victims of the storm.  In addition, Governor Walker will increase trucking weight limits as needed for companies sending relief assistance materials to aid those on the east coast.

“It is heart wrenching to see the destruction caused by Hurricane Sandy,” said Governor Scott Walker.  “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims as they recover from this devastating storm, and we are proud of Wisconsinites and Wisconsin companies stepping up to help out their fellow Americans during this time of need.”

GOVERNOR WALKER READIES THE WISCONSIN NATIONAL GUARD TO ASSIST WITH HURRICANE SANDY
Madison—Governor Scott Walker announced today the Wisconsin National Guard stands ready to assist civilian authorities supporting Hurricane Sandy relief efforts in the impacted regions.

"Wisconsin's outstanding National Guard is ready to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy," Gov. Walker said.  "As our nation braces for this massive storm, Wisconsin is hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst.  If resources are needed, Wisconsin stands ready to deploy the National Guard for assistance."

WISCONSIN JOBS GAINS CONTINUE
Madison
—The Bureau of Labor Statistics recently published the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) data for the first quarter of 2012.  QCEW is based on an actual job count of more than 96 percent of employers in Wisconsin.  The data shows Wisconsin continued to create jobs.

"Wisconsin’s continued private sector job growth is good news.  I am particularly pleased with the gains in the manufacturing sector, which makes up a huge portion of our state’s economy."  Governor Walker said.
